Make the right steering wheel roller context-aware for climate & drive modes
I have a suggestion to greatly improve the usability of the controls and the small instrument cluster screen. Currently, the right roller on the steering wheel is only for media volume and track selection. Next to it, there is a dedicated button that cycles through the available views on the small screen. The Proposal: First, add two new views to that cycle: Climate View: Showing temperature, fan speed Drive Mode View: Showing the current drive mode (Comfort/Normal/Sport) and the current regenerative braking level. Second, make the right roller's function context-aware based on which of these new views is active on the small screen: When the new Climate View is active: Roll Up/Down: Adjust temperature. Roll Left/Right: Adjust fan speed When the new Drive Mode View is active: Roll Up/Down: Adjust regen level (e.g., 0/1/2/3). Roll Left/Right: Switch between drive modes (Comfort/Normal/Sport). Why this would be great: This simple software change would add a lot of functionality without any new hardware. It allows drivers to make frequent adjustments (climate, regen, drive modes) using physical controls (the roller) while keeping their eyes on the road, instead of reaching for the central touchscreen. It makes the small screen much more useful and the driving experience safer and more intuitive.
