List of annoyance (cant recommend B10 before fixed!)
We have had the car for 2 months, driven 3900km. The Design variant (67kw battery) This is a long read, but sums up most of the things that has made me regret the purchase of this car. ADAS -Issue: Emergancy Lane assist is dangerous. When driving on country roads, it always tries to pull me off the road. When another car is passing the opposite direction and i have to drive outside the road, it tries to pull me back into the line of the other car, causing a headon collision. The beeping is stressfull (a continues beep every 4 sec. until i disable the feature). Fix: Let us disable it together with other functions on the steeringwheel (single, double or long press), make us able to save this setting even when the car is turned off. Towing trailer/caravan or even having mounted a Bikerack -Issue: When towing, no ACC or LCC available. - Speedlimiter cause excess power consumption since it does not use regen, and keeps accelerating and braking with the breakes, not regen (35kwh/100km) - Less than 200km for a full charge with a bikerac or empty trailer). The function to disable towing mode does not seem to work in menu. This makes it such a hassle to do longer drives, or for some even impossible to do long trips with a caravan or bikerack. Fix: Let the towing mode dissable function actually work. Make SS (standard cruisecontrol) an option. Remove the need for parking and entering pin to set, engage or disable speedlimiter. ACC / LCC functionality -Issue: No resume, takes to long to set a speed and change that set speed (it has a delay). When setting ACC during acceleration, it overshoots the set speed with about 10km/h for the first few seconds. (example, i drive in town and accelerate after an intersection, as soon i hit 50km/h i set the ACC and letgo of the throttle, it then keeps on accelerating to around 60km/h before slowly slowing down to 50km/h, ofthen this takes around 15-20 sec. This could result in speedtickets and such. Fix: Complet overhaul/rearange how the ACC and LCC (added SS) works. Make the left steeringwheel scrollbutton dedicated to ACC/LCC. (how i would do the setup). Left and right clicks changes what setting you operate (going between SS, ACC, LCC, Distance, speedlimter), centerclicking would engage the set setting. Double press resumes, and long press disables ACC/LCC. Scrolling would change the speed/distance depending on the setting you are in. This would make ACC/LCC work in one button, and even add features ontop. Shortcut key -Issue: Only one button assigned to shortcuts. The "One click" function is practicly two clicks since it asks if you are sure, so often it uses the two fastclick binding, because it is pushed to fast. Fix: Remove the "press again to activate" when pressed once. Make more functions such as a long press or chose what buttons to do what. Battery temperature -Issue: We have no way of monitoring the temperature of our battery. Even with -8C in the winther, we cant preheat the battery. This causes range to be around 250km with a full charge, and the charging speed is slow. Fix: Let us desice if we want to heat the battey to the optimal (18degrees), whenever we want, even if it is 10 degrees celcious outside. Locking system is a whole segment by its own, i will try and cover all of it, but there is a lot. In our case, we are two people driving this car, it is our only car and we are both connected to it via blutooth. We have a PIN setup to start the car driving. We park our car right next to our house (our only option), our bedroom is about 4 meters away from where the car is parked. We park in such a way, that it is the right side of the car (charging side), that is next to our entrance door to our house, hence the NFC mirror is on the opposite side of the car, furthest away from our house. Locking management (blutooth and keycard) This is the Europe version (the one i have). I dont know of this is any different in other countries. -Issue: The whole keycard thing on the sidemirror is just the worst (my opinion). When raining, we have to go to the sidemirror (left side) to unlock the car, unless we have our phone with us (we dont, and you will know why later). The unlock detection is set to "close range", but our car keeps locking and unlocking whenever we move around in our house. Popups keeps showing up on our phone, like every 2 min, no way to stop it unless we disable the app. This is an example from a week ago: We were about to drive, we get close to the car, it unlocks and we go to the trunk to load up stuff. in about 15 sec. (about when we are done loading the car), the car itself locks all doors. At this time, we are two with our phones right next to the car. I go to the drivers side and push the tiny black button to unlock the car - but nothing happens (havent worked for about a month). Now i have to either find my keycard or my phone, open the app and press unlock. Often this takes a few tries, entering pin or fingerprint. It unlocks, and we are ready to go. I enter the car and have to wait 10sec before i can enter my pin. I push my pin, slowly doubleclicking the shortcutkey disabling assist feature. Now i enter the settings menu, open ADAS, click on Active Safety, scroll down to Emergency lance assist, click it, click again to accept..... after all of this, i am now ready to have a pleasent drive.. I forgot to bring my medicin with me to the car, so i have to run back inside. My whole family waiting in the car (my girlfriend also has her phone on her, with the car connected). I have my phone in my pocket - not thinking about it. I walk inside, i hear the car lock behind me.. sigh.. i continue inside and after 20 sec the car starts screaming at me with the alarm going off. I have to go back to the car, since my kid and my girllfriend are both scared and confused. The car unlocks, i go to the screen and deactivates Life Detection. Now i go back into my house to get my medicine. I get back to the car (that has locked itself again), it unlocks and i enter. Asking for pin to drive. I enter pin and now i have to (again) go to settings, disable ADAS emergency Lane assist, doubleclicking the shortcut key, but this time i do it a little to fast, so the fans starts blowing at full speed, remembering that i had the doubleclick set to defrost the windows). Frustrated i doubleclick again followed by a slooow doubleclick. My girlfriend now talking loud why we had to buy this "stupid stupid car!" she said angry and frustrated. Finally we can move on to our distination (from Vodskov to Skive in Denmark.) Around 110km each way. We had a few other places we had to go, so on total it was around 270km of driving that day. 140km of that was on the highway going 115km/h. The drive was plesant - we were showing our friends and family the new car that none had ever heard of. "Leapmotor, what is that?" Most of them asked. Had to explain it is a new chinese brand being introduced into Europe, but that i wasnt that afraid of buying it, since it had the OTA, so all the small things could (and hopefully would) be fixed in time. As the day ended, we had to drive back home. At around 50km from home, the battery was down to 24% (from 98% in the morning), and as the rest of the way was mostly highway, i startet to look for a charger. I found an Ionity only 8km from us, and plottet that into the gps. Both the girls were half asleep. It was 8 Ionity 300kw chargers available, only two were in use. I plugged in the first charger. It ended a few secons after with a message "Battery fully charged" and showing 64%, not even close to what my car had, and none of this made any sence. After trying a few more times i moved the car to another - same message, but different %.. Both girls now all awake, and me frustrated that i have now tried 5 different charges, and they have all broken down every time i connected my car. At this time i was angry and tirred, regretting buying this piece of junk. I whent into my clever app to find another charger. We were 800meters away from a E-on / Clever charger 300kw. We drove there, plugged it in, and thankfully it worked. My daughter had to go to the toilet, and only 200meters away was a Mcdonalds, it was still open. I set the car to Guardmode, deactivated the Life detection warning and whent to the toilet together with my daughter, leaving my girlfriend alone in the car. When we came back to the car, it turned out that, as we were walking away from the car with my phone in my pocket, it had shut down the car completly, disabeling AC, turning of radio and all lights, leaving my girlfriend in a dark corner in the parkinglot in the middle of the night inside a locked car. Remember in all of this, she STILL has her phone on her, with the Leapmotor app connected to the car, but it just ignores her phone.. She is now beyond frustrated since the car was getting cold, and she got scared. On the way home, she told me she wanted to return the car if possible.. MOST of this could have been avoided, by just providing a keyfob that keeps the car unlocked and active when in range. When i have to leave the car, i need my phone to be able to get in contact with her (or others) in case anything happens. Fix: Not sure.. Give people the option to change the NFC card to a keyfob. Let several phones be connected at the same time so it dosnt lock itself when one leaves its visinity. There are more things that annoys me, but also a lot of things that i love about this car. But i cant get my head around the logic behind some of these choices with this car. The whole key thing, makes me regretting buying it. The towing mode makes it impossible for us to do the trips that we planned for (i have a bad right food, and bought this specifik car to go places with the ACC and LCC). Because of all these annoyance, i cant recommend this car. For safety reasons i have listed the ADAS Emergency Lane Assist as number 1, since it is so dangerous, that everytime someone has to drive the car i get anxious, knowing that my girlfriend isnt as strong as me and sometimes even i struggle with correcting against the force it pulls the car.
