Charging cable lock

After charging is completed the charge cable should unlock automatically. Its fine as is if you are indoors but if outdoors and its pouring with rain you must either stand in the rain waiting for the app to unlock the cable or unlock the car and then open the screen to unlock the cable. Of what purpose is it having the cable locked in place once charging is completed?
