Display brightness shortcut auto option not working

If you setup a shortcut that changes the display brightness, theres a button to set it to auto, but it doesn't do anything when the shortcut actually runs. Use-case: if the rear doors open at night, i change the display mode to light and bump brightness to 100%, so theres more light in the cabin. If the doors are closed, i want to return it to normal, but the brigthness auto option doesn't work.
